Hello, today I bring you an interview I did to my grandfather, about pollution at sea over time
Summary of BIOGRAPHY
Antonio Neto joined the Army at the age of 25. After 4 years, he became a Captain. At the age of 28 he went to work on oil tankers, already as Captain. Even today, when he passes by on the street, friends and acquaintances call him Captain.
At the moment, he is living in Ílhavo, PORTUGAL, at the age of 74.

What are oil tankers?
Oil tankers are private tanker ships, which are used to transport hydrocarbons, namely crude oil and oil products.
The sea of 50 years ago is the same as the sea of today, in terms of pollution. What has changed?
There is a big difference between the seas of yesteryear and those of today.
The number of ships in circulation is unparalleled. And this has repercussions on the pollution left by them at sea. In addition, there was a great evolution in the use of fuels, in the past, boats spilled a lot of oils, petroleum and coal, which were dropped on the high seas by oil tankers. This created large “islands” of pollution on the surface of the water with these fats.
And today, what marks the greatest pollution in the seas?
Well, what I was still witnessing while sailing was that the black islands of oil decreased, it is true, however today the great islands of pollution continue to exist but they are made essentially of plastics, remains of nets, wood.
